Araby - Knights

Image
I'd been having problems with the Araby knights coming off their bases - so took the opportunity to rebase them to 40mm squares. I also added some more figures, a base of black knights, a few extra green a yellow to turn the 3 smaller WM bases per unit into 2 larger HoW bases. The blue and red cavalry are different figures, on un-barded horses, for now they will just be knights, but they do give me a medium cavalry option if needed for another army. All the figures are TB Line. Medium cavalry nearing completion.  Figures on painting sticks, nearly completion of the painting.

Araby - Cavalry

Image
Many part painted bases of TB Line Horse Archers. These are very nice figures, with loads of detail, but I have found painting them hard work. Hence they aren't finished.  Elephants, TB line furtherst away, and Magister Militum nearer the camera. Behind them are Knights further away with cmael riders nearer.

Araby - Infantry and Artillery

Image
Araby Guards and Spearmen. The three left hand blocks are GW Warmaster figures. At the back are Guard infantry, waving swords and having many plumes in their headgear. On the Right are Magister Militum spearmen. The back two blocks are from their Arab line, the front block are more heavily armoured, from one of the Persian ranges.  Black Powder weapons - these are all Pendraken Ottomen Turk figures. The front row re cannons, the 3 rows of yellow and blue figures are hand-gunners, then some small mortars. And behind them a pair of heavy seige guns. These figures were initially added to the army for use under the KoW Kingdoms of Men list, which was a very versatile list. Lately these troops are rather orphaned, as under HoW we have gone back to a stripped back Araby list closer to the original WM one.

Araby - Army

Image
The whole army arrayed. Nearest the camera are TB Line Horse archers, at the far left are GW Flying Carpets. In the centre many spearmen.  Nearest the camera are various Black Powder Ottoman elements that aren't currently included in the HoW Araby army list.

Dwarves - Overview

This is another fairly new army. Initially I had a few Dwarven infantry units from the BoFA set who where part of the Dogs of War army.  Then a few cannons where added (initially as allies for KoW Men) and some gyrocopters. This just about gave me a playable force for Warband.  Then the excellent Copplestone LoTR dwarves were available on sale - so this was enough of a reason to add these to the army - giving me a good solid core of infantry. Now I just need to paint these chaps.  The main element missing from the army are missile troops. As these are definitely a slow burner project, I am in no rush to get these and will wait and hope that Copplestone will make some Dwarves with bows.  At the minute I'm steering away from some of the GW elements like the orange bearded Troll Slayers. But I am happy with the engineering and black powder elements.

Evil Men - Overview

This army is built around the Indiegogo campaign run by Yann (aka Barbarian) a few years ago.  The figures are very detailed, and there are some very cool models. Unfortunately it has languished in the lead pile for some time. Partly waiting for inspiration on the painting front and partly on the army list front. I'm sure this army was created to provide proxies for the defenct GW Warmaster Chaos range, but I'm not entirely sure that is how I want to use them.  Painting wise I do quite like the scheme used by Pappa Midnight on LAF by on his Chaos Dwarves that involves a deep red wash to the armour.

Herd - Minotaur Wizards and Commanders

Image
Three stands of Minotaur wizards and six commanders, these are mainly figures from the new Warband backs from Pendraken, which have loads of character.

Lizardmen - Temple

Image
A surprisingly simple and quick project to make an Aztec style temple out of high density blue foam. Base layer, a simple square of foam, with stone outlines pressed in using a sharp pencil. All 3 layers cut to size, along with pieces to make the stair cases. Each layer was cut to give about a 40mm gap.  Each layer inscribed, and painted up brown with a dry brush.

Landsknecht - Arquebusier

Image
Three How units of Arquebusier finished (these often turn up in the Empire army too) A single stand done in a coherent black and yellow scheme.  All these figures are Warmonger, except the chap on the back row of the black and yellow stand with the large feather, who is GW.

Mongols - Reinforcements

Image
A variety of units to add to the Mongol forces, 2 more Mongolian Death Worms, some Lancers, 3 Chinese Rockets, 3 units of foot archers, and 3 more light cavalry. Other than the rockets (Irregular Miniatures) the figures are Pendraken.

Landsknecht - Arquebusier WIP

Image
Two warmaster units of Landsknecht arquebusier, these are Warmonger miniatures figures. These are new figures sculpted with loads of detail an character. I have gone for painting in the traditional Landsknecht colours, and attempted to give the stripes and slashing associated with their clothing. Basing needs finishing, and figures need a matt varnish.

Ogres - Overview

This is my newest army, so new that I don't even have the figures yet! I backed the Black Gate Miniatures Kickstarter for the second set of their Ogre figures - this went so well it ended up delivering all the units for a full Ogre army. Hopefully these figures will arrive before the end of the year (2017).

Herd - in storage

Image
Herd troops in their box file. Centaurs at the top, rhinos and pegasi next. Some Kallistra treemen who aren't part of this army! In the middle Minotaur commanders and wizards. A few more centaurs, some  Sylvan kin (again not really part of this army). Then loads of Minotaurs at the bottom. Most of the figures are Pendraken.

High Elves - Overview

Image
The High Elf army was by first 10mm army - some 12 years ago. It started with a win on eBay of a moderate sized forced - and has grown and grown over the years to be a huge army. The current army is so large it rarely gets on the table in its entirety. The core of the army is GW Warmaster figures, including the 3 different rare troop types, which I have managed to purchase for not too much. All the Warmaster figures have been purchased second hand, mainly in job lots. As well as this core there are additions of BoFA plastic elves, and some Pendraken figures - though these additions would probably be better used to make different armies. The BoFA figures will probably be the core of a Wood Elf army. Finished Troops The Elves arrayed in Warmaster units, full details are on my website   Lead Mountain There is a small lead mountain of Elves, just a few units, in case I need some specific figures for a game. Rather than painting new figures, the army could do with a bit

Herd - Headusmen

Image
Headusmen - a kind of mini-minotaur! These are old Pendraken sculpts, that while been a bit crude have loads of character!

Lizardmen - Troops

Image
Terradon riders - in a funky disruptive paint scheme Kroxigor - large lizards, a bit like Ogres. These are 15mm figures, now available through Minibits At the rear Saurus Warriors, the main stay of the Lizardmen army. At the front Skinks, the brains of the army, these troops act as skirmishers.

Lizardmen - Army Shot

Image
Overview of the core troops of the Lizardmen army. Back Row, Terradon riders, kroxigor, then more terradon riders Middle Row, Cold One Riders, Saurus Warriors in two blocks and more Cold One Riders Front Row, 3 blocks of Skinks All these figures are Pendraken.

Forces of Nature - Unicorns

Image
A base of Pendraken Unicorns for the Forces of Nature army. Based on 40mm square. I went for a more bold painting method on these to try to avoid them looking very white!

Romans - Ballista

Image
Late Era Romans manning a Ballista, these are standard imperial roman ballista, raised up slightly on a washer. The crews are lightly customised figures from the late roman skirmishers.  All figures are Pendraken, based on 40mm squares.

Dwarves - Gyrocopters

Image
Pendraken Dwarven Gyrocopoters, based on 100x50mm bases for Warband. The models are not glued to the top of the flight stands, so should allow easy transfer to other bases for other rules.

Araby - Desert Fort

Image
The cracking Total Battle Miniatures desert fort. It comes in 4 main wall sections, along with the base. All in a very solid resin. I managed to pick this up for a bargain at Phalanx from Pendraken!

Landsknecht - Formations

Image
An attempt to recreate the formations as shown in a period woodcut.

Araby - Djinn

Image
On the left is a CP miniatures 28mm Djinn, and on the right the original 10m GW Warmaster Araby Djinn. While the 28mm figure is a fair bit bigger, he's not too big to work.

Trident Realms - Reinforcements

Image
The finished reinforcements, on the left, CP Models Squid Faces, behind them a GW Storm Giant, then in the middle of the back two rows, Crabs and Starfish from CP models, on the right water Sprites from Magister Militum (15mm). On the front row at the left a couple of Mind Flayers from Pendraken and then more Water Sprites.  These are 28mm figures from CP Models, the guys at the back are Squid Faces, and the front ones are crab swarms.

Trident Realms - Missile Troops

Image
Naiad Crossbows - Magister Militum Fishmen Levithan's Revenge Bolt Throwers - Pendraken Goblin bolt throwers with Magister Militum crews. Druid (GW Albion figure) and Nokken (MM 15mm Water Sprites) Giant (GW BoFA Storm Giant)

Trident Realms - Pendraken units

Image
Giant Crabs, aka Giga Water Elementals (basing is different as they were originally part of the Nature army) Fishmen - heavily armoured troops with tridents and nets Knucker - a kind of giant octopus All these figure are Pendraken. All are based on 40mm squares.
